This site is dedicated to the memory of Titanic Centenary.

Preparations are steaming ahead for the commemorative Titanic Centenary Dinner at the Fabrik this coming Sunday, 15th April. My thanks in advance for those who have volunteered their assistance - this is a veritable team effort which will be apparent on the night. Over the past months, I have read and watched about the disaster, turning into a so-called "Titanorak" in the process. The more I have learned of the many heroes, from the engineers and the crew through to the more celebrated first-class passengers Benjamin Guggenheim and Ida Strauss, the more I have been inspired by the stories of chivalry and heroism, and empathised deeply with the fear and horror experienced by those on board, stuck on a sinking ship, in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, in darkness, with all hope (and all lifeboats) gone. Our commemorative dinner will therefore be in aid of a noble cause - I can't think of a more suitable beneficiary than the RNLI, whose heroism saves lives at sea every day. I have set up a Forever by the Sea fundraiser with an overall goal of raising €1517, the figure representing the number of lives lost when the Titanic sank. The image displayed on the Fundraiser shows Captain Rostron of the Carpathia, (who rescued the survivors from the lifeboats, receiving a gold cup from Molly Brown, a survivor of the Titanic disaster. You can donate online, or on the night at the Fabrik. My goal is to reach €759 in donations, which I will double.
